NT to 2003
This is the more difficult migration. There is not an upgrade path and so all new software is required. The chances are that the hardware will also be past its useful performance time and so this is an ideal time to upgrade the hardware too. Upgrading hardware at this time also reduces the labour costs of a migration. We simply have the servers delivered to our offices; the software is installed during normal working hours and then assembled at your site and the data migrated at the weekend.
2000 to 2003
By far the easier migration, as Windows 2003 can be installed as an upgrade to Windows 2000 without necessitating a complete rebuild of the server.
We generally recommend that migrations are carried out over a weekend to minimise downtime. Although labour is dearer, the savings come from the fact that your entire office is not twiddling their thumbs because they cannot use their computers.
If you are still running on Windows NT Server, it really is time to look at migrating as you never know if the next problem will be resolvable
Linux and Netware to Windows
We can also migrate from other operating systems to Windows. Whether youre migrating to reduce cost, or to move to a better supported platform, we make sure that your migration goes smoothly. We always recommend that Linux and Netware migrations are onto new hardware, so that you always have the option to revert to the old system. A key part of migrations from non-Microsoft systems is making sure that any bespoke or industry-specific applications you may have will work in the new environment. Our expertise and industry contacts help you deal with this efficiently.
