IT Security

Ensuring the security of your computer systems is a key part of our responsibilities as your IT support provider. All clients benefit from our extensive experience and carefully developed best practices in making best use of the standard security features of Windows. We can also advise you on, and implement for you, a number of additional measures designed to increase the security of your network, to protect you against malicious hacking, viruses, spyware and malfeasance.

Some examples are:

  • Non-Microsoft browser standardisation to reduce entry points for spyware;
  • Internet bridgehead servers to provide point-of-entry defence against spam, email-borne viruses and spyware; this can also allow you to monitor employee email and internet activity;
  • Centralised anti-virus updates and infected file quarantine;
  • Hardware and software VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections to allow mobile employees, home-workers and remote offices to communicate with you securely;
  • Two-factor identification (special hardware "tokens" providing a constantly changing authentication number, used in conjunction with a PIN known only by the user, to replace passwords);
  • Secure remote-access gateways to allow mobile workers access to all the internal systems they need to do their job without compromising your security;

We can also carry out tests of your security, sometimes known as "white-hat hacking" or "pen-testing" (short for penetration testing). You may be surprised at the ways confidential information could be at risk.

Key technologies we support in the security area include:

  • SonicWall, Cisco, Checkpoint and Watchguard firewalls
  • RSA SecurID and ActivCard two-factor tokens
  • GFi MailEssentials and MailSecurity anti-spam and email anti-virus
  • Symantec (Norton) Anti-Virus (Corporate and Enterprise)
  • Citrix Metaframe Secure Gateway and Metaframe Secure Access Manager
  • Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA)
  • Computer Associates Pest Patrol
